To get to Whitehaven by road take the M6 motorway and turn off at Penrith, junction 49. Whitehaven is about 1 hour from Penrith.Follow the A66 past Keswick and Cockermouth then turn off before Workington onto the A595 heading south.
From the North it is also possible to take take the  A595 from Carlisle join the A66 near Cockermouth and then rejoin the A595 before Workington .

By train - Go to Carlisle and then take a train south along the Cumbrian coast for about 1 hour. Or alternatively take a train from Lancaster to Barrow and the the train north along the coast.
