| Jeanie Johnston the replica of the Irish emigrant ship returns to Whitehaven after her successful visit to the Maritime Festival. The three-masted barque from Tralee looks quite at home here which is hardly surprising as it is just the sort of trading ship that used to fill the harbour. |

| With the onboard museum it is also possible to catch a glimpse of the lives of the Irish famine refugees as they escaped to a new life in Canada and the United States. Each person had their own story to tell; from Ellen Mahony and children on their way to hopefully find their father across the Atlantic, to Doctor Blennerhassett who helped keep the Jeanie Johnston miraculously free from death. |
