SculptureSculptures seem to be popping up all over Whitehaven like ghosts from the past. First was the boy on the end of the Sugar Tongue, sat on a capstan, looking out to sea, awaiting his father's return.
Then there was the man with his dog stepping out from the pages of history on Lowther Street, opposite the castle, and taking a drink from the old water fountain.
Next came the two sailors under the gazebo in the market place waiting to see if a passing sea captain might take them on for a voyage.
Also one of the American raiders can be seen spiking the guns on the quay side just beyond the Beacon before you get to the ruins of the old fort attacked by John Paul Jones.
Now near the new fish processing plant at the Queens dock end of the harbour is a swirling maelstrom of fish rising from the deep.
Even the cycle rack near the start of the C2C route is in the form of a shoal of jumping fish.
